European Round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court 2012 to be held in Bucharest

The European Centre for Space Law (ECSL) is pleased to announce its partnership with the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, in the organisation of the European round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition 2012. The Competition will be held on April 26-27, 2012 in the premises of the Faculty of Law of University of Bucharest and will welcome 33 participating students from 11 Universities across Europe.

The ECSL, body assisted by the European Space Agency (ESA), is the Regional Organiser of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, a competition initiated by the International Institute of Space Law (IISL) since 1993. After having hosted the event for many years in the premises of ESA Headquarters in Paris, the ECSL decided to organise it each year in a University in Europe in order to promote the competition and spread the knowledge of space law all over Europe. Thus, the European Round was successfully organised in in Riga, Lithuania (2008), in Athens, Greece (2009), in Györ, Hungary (2010) and in Saint Petersburg (2011).

On behalf of the Faculty of Law, the International Law academic staff of the Department for Public Law in cooperation with the International Law Students Association Romania will be in charge of organizing the event.

It is a great pleasure to organise the 2012 edition of the European round of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competitions in Romania, the latest ESA member state.
