The American Jury Trial: Perspectives from the Prosecution and Judiciary
On 16 November 2020, starting 16.00, the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest through its Center for Research in the field of Criminal Sciences and the U.S. Department of Justice, OPDAT Program at the U.S. Embassy in Romania, are organizing the event „The American Jury Trial: Perspectives from the Prosecution and Judiciary”.
The U.S. Department of Justice Resident Legal Advisor Jessica Kim and United States District Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. will discuss the unique features of the American jury trial from the perspectives of a federal prosecutor and federal judge. Drawing from real jury trials, the two will discuss voir dire (jury selection), jury function, jury deliberation, and jury verdict, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the jury trial system.
The event will take place online and will be open for students and teachers of the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest. Registration is mandatory and can be made here until 13 November 2020.
