The conflict between freedom of speech and the protection of the religious belief - Adrian-Nicușor Popescu
Abstract: Multicultural society requires plurality of views and religious beliefs. Thus, there are more numerous cases of incitement to religious hatred or violation of a right recognized judicially by the European Court of Human Rights: the right to protection of religious feelings. Nowadays, attacks against journalists from the weekly Charlie Hebdo French opened conflict between freedom of expression as a supreme value and the need to limit if if it upsets the balance of a democratic society. We must distinguish between satire, comic category that ridicules or criticizes something or someone, and free religious slander, tendentious assertion made in order to insult and discredit the religious feelings of any community, identified with the notion of blasphemy.
