Abstract: To ensure a substantive authority to its acts, as well as (in case of jurisdictional acts) to observe the exigencies of a fair trial, the decisions on admissibility of the applications, the judgements and the advisory opinions of the European Court of Human Rights are motivated. There are certain exceptions from the principle concerning the motivation, the most important representing the proof of the Court's discretionary power, exercised according to its judiciary policy, to judge or re-judge the merits of a case by the Grand Chamber.
