The present article aims at presenting the modus operandus used within the implementation of its development policies by the primary institution of the World Bank Group, namely the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), colloquially known as the World Bank. The World Bank is governed by universally recognized principles of international organizations and functions based on the member states’ agreement. The organization has a universal and economic nature, and its internal rules are established accordingly to the principles of international economic law. Hence the analyze concerns the institutional structure of the organization, the role and attribution of each of its internal bodies, as well as its financial instruments provided for the support of the member states.
